...What?
How Volatile Life Is
This post is dedicated to two fellow bloggers and two wonderful films. The fantastical Desiree's son coined the phrase "Squalid Glamour", which describes a look both of us really love... but first...
The title of this post is from a fantastic film my always inspirational friend Edie introduced me to
Daisies
Daisies is a 1966 Czech surrealist feminist farce. The two protagonists cause havoc where ever they go. I utterly love it, it's playful, addictive and enchanting. I suggest you check it out on youtube
Here's Edie's Daisies illustration
My next dedication is to the film Blithe Spirit. It's based on a Noel Coward play. I adore the dry witty dialogue and the wonderful outfit Elvira wears
And if you remember yesterdays post, I dyed a lot of clothes a pale ghostly green
Headband - Made by me
Slip - Ebay, was already green
The Uber Bra - Dyed by me
Someone else loves the squalid glamour of underwear as outerwear...

Here you go... the UBER BRA in all it's glory
Slip - Jumble sale - dyed by me
Phone - Original 40s and in full working order
I have been naughty and bought a few vintage cotton nighties. Here's my favourite.
Long live SQUALID GLAMOUR

I love that green bra. Thank you so much for modeling it. It's gorgeous with the slip! I want to dress like this around my house all the time now. I'm going to start looking at vintage gowns and nighties. What a great idea!
Long live squalid glamour! You look the opposite of squalid in these incredibly amazing photos!I love the daisies inspired headbands and the ghostly green underwear, all reminds me of Cindy Sherman and of Alex Prager, a talented photographer Who uses often this wonderful colour in her works!
Bravo!! I'm in love with this post!

Hail hail to squalid glamour!!! Great homage to a great film, I too found it by way of our very own Edie. You look friggin playful and naughty in your green undies, all sleepy doe eyed and all. Why I could just kiss you!

You are beyond fabulous, I loved the bored housewife shot, you look MAGNIFICENT in your bra!!!
Your newly cut hair and fringe makes you look so cheeky and Imp-like in your daisies tribute and the cotton nightie is a beauty...rather like you! xxxx
I love Blythe spirit sooo much, Madam Arcarty rocks my world in all her tweeds and crazy shawls lol. I love the green brassiere, how delightful. X
That is some impressive boobage on display there!! Emphasized and controlled beautifully by the bra-let of wonder!! I love the way you've done your eyes and I love the green slip. I love Edie's illustration and I love Elvira's dress. Blythe Spirit eh. Been a while since I've seen that film but I remember it being brilliant. Anything with Margaret Rutherford in is a joy xxxx
I've come back for another look at your magnificent bosom in that gorgeous underwear. Fucking fabularse.

Still laughing at Desiree's comment. But YOU, my dear, are magificent in that green bra. I gasped in amazement when I saw you. And I love your cotton nighties.
Godammit, I didn't buy a lovely white cotton nightie in a charity shop recently because I was feeling mean and now I wish I had. Poo.
Loving that gorgeous bra ... most envious - I have nothing to put in mine!!! Your shorter hair is lovely - I am trying to grow my very short hair and want it like yours. M x
Another utterly wonderful post. There's so much to say I almost feel I need to do bullet points.
The bra, you in the bra (taking yet another PPI call), the daisies, your house, edie's illustration, Elvira's outfit, your homage, your hair, your big eyes, the list could go on...it's all sublime! So inspiring. xxxx
Love the uber bra and slip and the tribute to a fabulous flic! I don't know Daisies but it looks intriguing .... And your new nightie is so sweet. :)

Sorry I am late to comment, Clare, but I was knocked out by the sight of your knockers, and it took a day to recover my equilibrium.
Phooaarr, Mrs! You look amazing! The ghostly green slip is sexy enough, but then The Green Bra of Desire is something else! I LOVE the Squalid Glamour look on you - well done to Desiree's No. 1 Son for coining the phrase, it's perfect.
Daisies looks endearingly bonkers in a delightful way, and Blithe Spirit is wonderful, from what I remember (haven't seen it in years.)
The white cotton nightie looks terribly virginal and innocent. But then you ruin the effect with your come-to-bed eyes and sexy eye liner. That Mike is a lucky man!
You're bloody brilliant, you are! xxxxxxx
I LOVE the closeup photo of you in the daisy crown and pretty nightdress!!!
I've not seen either of those, must add them to my 'to watch' list! Squalid glamour is a perfect description of your look x not sure if I did my green post before or after you, but great minds think alike!
Clare, you should be a model. You look fabulous in these pictures. I still am freaking for the new green bra. I don't know--the ethereal green really suits you. Squalid glamour...lurv it.
#1 - how have I not heard of these films before?! They look utterly brilliant!
#2 - you fox! You are such a gorgeous modern day pin-up :-). I love the ghostly green dye redo on your clothing. Makes me run & want to dye everything - though I will admit I'm a bit chicken to. The floral crown is the icing on the cake - so perfect indeed!
Wow - you are absolutley faboulous! Great post!
thanks for following me and your comment. I love old nighties too I just bought one today. you look great in all your outfits. love lucy
The headband is super cute x

Love the squalid glamour look!! I absolutely adore underwear as outerwear, though I don't rock it nearly as well! I had never heard of Daisies, but will definitely look it up. (PS - I looked up Burnistoun. Very, very funny!)
Here's another fan of underwear as outerwear! You look great in your green slip. Love it!
You are setting a trend here Clare. We will be in nighties next.

Daisies is ringing some bell in my memory Clare, and I loved Blythe Spirit. Love the photos of you on the phone, you've really captured the spirit of those days. Your brain must be a whirl of activity these days because you just seem to be so inspired and alive in every post. I never know what you're going to be doing next. You're looking beautiful and strong while you're about it too. xx
Someone told me about Daisies but I can't find it...is it on YOUTUBE?
You were not naughty but nice to buy your lovely nighties- how gorgeous you look!
